“When I was a little girl, the grown men always talked about the sky and what it might bring. Her work sums up a day or welcomes another. Gay never paints from a photograph, but the work is ultimately authentic, captured from life or in her mind’s eye, with motion, color and a spiritual and emotional presence that is uniquely Gay Gaddis. Her larger pieces are bold showstoppers collected by an international group of art buyers. She excels at unique small skyscapes that find perfect homes on bookshelves and special groupings. Her color palette is defined by natural light, clouds, humidity and storms – an everchanging mixing bowl of color and texture that changes minute by minute.

In 2020, Gay sold her advertising agency, T3 (The Think Tank) to a private equity firm, built an amazing studio and private gallery at their historic ranch, and today spends most of her time painting big Texas skies. Her paintings were all over the board, but her hand skills were still there. After her three children graduated and left home, Gay bought a few canvases and began experimenting with acrylics. Twenty-five years later the company she founded and owned was the largest woman-owned advertising agency in the country working for the Who’s Who of corporate America. She graduated magna cum laude and took a job at an advertising agency in Dallas. As an evolving artist she worked across many mediums and her work appeared in multiple competitive shows across the campus. She received a scholarship from the Art Department and was a Teaching Assistant.
